About The Project
St John’s Community Enterprise Project began as a music through enterprise initiative in 2008 and was the brainchild of Mr Derek Thomson, Computing Teacher and Mr Colin Stewart, Music Teacher at St John’s RC High School.
It began as way of supporting pupils to discover entrepreneurial skills through music with the idea of supporting the Scottish Government’s new Curriculum for Excellence agenda. The principle behind the work of the project is to make pupils more confident individuals, effective contributors, successful learners and responsible citizens.
It involves the community by integrating aspects of local heritage and history with school life and into the curriculum.
The enthusiasm of the staff and pupils has grown over the past year and the project now involves the whole of the St John’s community and has become known as St John’s Community Enterprise Project.
St John’s Community Enterprise Project has the long term aim of recognising, promoting and celebrating the achievements of the pupils of St John’s and helping the school work together with the wider community. The project involves pupils in all aspects of development, from their wellbeing, learning through to life experiences. It develops entrepreneurial skills while promoting and marketing their skills and talents and shows them how they can be effective contributors to the community and celebrate their own achievements.
We are working on a number of major projects within the coming years and you can find information about present projects, forthcoming attractions, downloads and how to get involved on the pages within this website.
